PORT SAINT LUCIE, FLORIDA  ·  HOME DATACENTER
SPEC SNAPSHOT · OCT 2026 CORE: UDM PRO + CATALYST 3650 CABINET: SYSRACKS 12U · MESH DOOR
Pup Mason Datacenter

Enterprise iron.Living-room footprint. Built, cabled, and run by Mason — in a locked 12U rack in Port Saint Lucie.

This isn't a shelf of blinking boxes. It's dual Dell PowerEdge R630s, an R720xd, a Cisco Catalyst core, and a UniFi Dream Machine Pro — patch-panelled in green, vented out the window, and managed down to the firmware.

The iron

Servers that do
the heavy lifting.

Most of the rack stays off on purpose — Florida power and AC bills are real. What matters is kept current: BIOS, iDRAC, switch firmware, and backups, all on a schedule.

Mason-R630

The main box · 192.168.1.36

Windows Server 2025 host for Blue Iris, game servers, local AI, and the house website. The one that actually earns its rack space.

  • CPU: 2× Xeon E5-2650 v4 — 24C / 48T
  • RAM: 256 GB DDR4-2666 (8 × 32 GB)
  • GPU: Quadro P400 2 GB
  • Management: iDRAC 8 Enterprise, BIOS 2.19.0
  • Backups: Twice daily — midnight & 1pm — to rear USB disk

Second R630 + R720xd

The rest of the Dell stack

A second PowerEdge R630 (Server2) and the bigger R720xd storage chassis sit below it in the rack — patched, labelled, and brought up when they're needed.

  • CPU: 2x Xeon E5-2697 v3 - 28C / 56T
  • RAM: 128 GB DDR4-2133
  • Storage: PERC H730P - 2x 1.2 TB SAS + 6x 4 TB SATA
  • Management: iDRAC 8 Enterprise, 192.168.1.73
  • Patch labels: MASONSERVER 1–3, PYROSERVER 1–2
  • Updates: Nightly Windows run ~3am; Server2 Wednesdays ~10am
  • Power: Remote power-on via iDRAC when a job needs them

QNAP NAS

Storage · Office · 192.168.1.38

QTS NAS living in the office, not the server room, on its own UPS with a USB data cable. Home to the media library and Mason's own Plex server.

  • Role: File storage + Plex Media Server
  • Power: Dedicated UPS, USB-monitored
  • Security: Built-in admin account kept disabled, on purpose

Cooling & power discipline: rear exhaust fans vent straight out the window, the rack stays locked, and idle servers stay off. In Florida, a homelab you run 24/7 without thinking is just a second AC bill.

Network core

Routing, switching
& clean DNS.

UniFi at the edge, Cisco in the middle, and AdGuard Home quietly killing ads and trackers for the whole house before they ever load.

What's running

Services with
a job to do.

Filter by where a service lives. Nothing here is decorative — every one of these is used by the house, Mason, or Pyro.

Blue Iris

R630

Camera system for the Cove-covered house — motion, doors, windows, and smoke all watched from the main server.

Local AI — Ollama

LAN only

Ollama with the custom mason-qwen model (32K context) running on CPU, served to the tablet through Open WebUI. Never exposed to the internet.

IIS Website

Public

The house site on the R630 over HTTPS with a Let's Encrypt cert — the one Pyro is now taking over and rebuilding in his own style.

Minecraft Servers

AlwaysUp

Java and Bedrock servers run as AlwaysUp services so they survive reboots and come back on their own.

Plex — QNAP

NAS

Movies and shows served from the QNAP in the office — Mason's own Plex, after the library moved off the R630.

WireGuard + AdGuard

Private

WireGuard on the UDM gets Mason home from anywhere; AdGuard Home cleans up DNS for every device once he's there.
